The Revelation to John 1:1-3

The Revelation of Jesus Christ,
which God gave Him to show to His bond-servants,
the things which must soon take place;
and He sent and communicated it by His angel
to His bond-servant John, who testified to the word
of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ,
even to all that he saw. Blessed is he who reads and
those who hear the words of the prophecy,
and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near.

Rules of Prophecy:
Languages 2 groups of prophetic language are used:
1. Figurative-Types require anti-types; ex. Adam was an anti-type,
Christ is the type.
However, Christ must come first (John 1:1) in order to understand what type(anti) Adam was.
Eve-A bride of Adam.
A type of church, bride of Christ.
There is only one who has no type or anti-type, that is God, our heavenly Father.
Angels have types and anti-types.
Symbols- Provide identification or meaning, ex. Church, body, member
Woman,Israel, bride Heavenly things are not symbolized but symbolized things are understood by their fulfillment.
2. Literal- There are 2 groups of literal translations:
Heaven
Earth
Heavenly literal things may not be precisely described because they've never been seen before. John uses earthly words to describe heavenly things.
This may cause them to sound far fetched and mythological to the secular.
They are identified by comparative words, i.e. "like","as" etc.
The theme of both earthly and heavenly language is- Redemption.
