36.3 million. That's the number of people 65 and over in the United States in 2004.
These are our brothers and sisters, our neighbors and loved ones. We are all one in the eyes of the Lord.
Jesus answered and said to him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God." He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper,
But he who confesses and forsakes them will find compassion. Therefore, (confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed.
In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus,
"Then the King will say to those on His right, 'Come, you who are blessed of My Father,
For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.
'Do not fear, for I am with you;
No one is alone.
As many as 17 million people are alcoholics with another 70 million families exposed to alcoholism.
There are about 3 million drug users out there today.
Consider the collateral damage.
For every alcoholic, at least 4 other people are affected.
These are the validated facts. Think about how many go unreported.
Think of the number of deaths that are caused by drugs and alcohol,
but another reason
is given on the death certificate.
Another amazing satistic on top of that is that 70% of the prison population have a substance abuse problem while incarcerated.
People come out of prison addicted.
This age group accounts for 12 percent of the total population.
147%. That's the projected percentage increase in the 65-and-over population between 2000 and 2050.
By comparison, the population as a whole would have increased by only 49 percent over the same period.
10.2% Poverty rate for people 65 and over in 2003.
Thirty-seven percent of all widows, compared to 16.5 percent of the total American population, never finished high school.
On being alone-
75% of elderly men living outside institutions (like nursing homes) have a spouse; 41% of elderly women do.
When health fails, elderly men are likely to have a spouse for support; elderly women more often live and die alone.
On staying healthy and safe:
Approximately 80% of the elderly population will face at least one of the following chronic, limiting illnesses or conditions:
heart disorders, arthritis, diabetes, osteoporosis, senile dementia, and ones that affect respiratory and digestive systems.
For many, social security is all they have.The elderly poor spend 50% or more of their income in housing costs.
Over 1/3 of all federally subsidized housing is occupied by older persons.
Psalm 120:1
Give them a voice
and to ensure they are not alone but to provide Christian encouragement that soften their hearts and comfort their spirit.
We pray that they may find serenity in their lonliness, freedom in their incarceration, comfort in their pain and
light in the darkness.
God through Christ are people of the same backgrounds who have come together in the name of Jesus Christ
to bring the love of God to our bretheren.
The incarcerated, we visit, the infirmed, we care for, the elderly, we accompany and to all we bring the word of God.
John 3:3
Proverbs 28:13
The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.
James 5:16
This is an eternal change of life program.
Our brothers and sisters who obtain sobriety go on to assist and
care for the less fortunate than themselves.
They go on to provide these thigns to others who are in similar circumstances as they were.
We've found that by confession and repentance, helping others and
trusting in the Lord to be a successful "program".
Everyone is given the opportunity to help those who are likewsie, infirmed,
incarcerated, gripped in substance abuse and otherwise, less fortunate.
We provide both in house and re-integration treatment with our requirements.
We are all inclusive, Christian and non-Christian alike, however we've found
that nothing can happen for anyone to change
their station until they are free from the yoke of their bondage.
Regardless of whether the person is in house or re-integrating,have a
home or do not have a home,incarcerated or not, everyone part of the same program. Rich or poor
But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him,
how does God's love abide in him?
Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.
1 John 3:16-18
how he himself said,
It is more blessed to give than to receive.
Acts 20:35
inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
'For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink;
I was a stranger, and you invited Me in;
naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me;
I was in prison, and you came to Me.'
Matthew 25:34-36
Now if any man builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw,
each man's work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire,
and the fire itself will test the quality of each man's work.
If any man's work which he has built on it remains, he will receive a reward.
If any man's work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.
Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
If any man destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him, for the temple of God is holy, and that is what you are.
